is a low-lying island within a remote atoll system of the outer Seychelles. The land area consists mainly of sand, coral debris, and flat limestone formations and is permanently uninhabited.

Grand Carcassaye's significance stems from its location within the atoll. It marks the edges of lagoons and reef zones and contributes to the clear spatial structuring of the atoll. Such islands are important reference points for charts and nautical navigation.

Ecologically, Grand Carcassaye is part of a sensitive marine system. The island influences local currents and sediment movements and provides refuge for seabirds as well as habitat for species of the adjacent coral reef. There is no permanent human use.

For travelers, Grand Carcassaye has no practical relevance as a destination. No landings take place, and there is no infrastructure. However, within the context of an island guide, the island is important because it illustrates how many named points of interest in the Seychelles primarily serve orientation, nature conservation, and complete geographical mapping.
